What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship is an opportunity for people to earn while they learn. Apprenticeships are now available in over 500 occupations in an increasing range of industries.

Sunraysia & Murray Group Training legally employ Apprentices and Trainees and then place them within local businesses in our community.

From careers in Hospitality, Automotive, Electrical, Engineering, Construction, Retail, Business to Community Services-an Apprenticeship is available in any industry.

Employment Consultants from SMGT coordinate, manage and monitor the training for Apprentices and Trainees in the workplace and with the Registered Training Provider. We ensure that the Apprentices and Trainees receive the relevant training for the National Qualification they are undertaking.

SMGT Employment Consultants provide ongoing support to assist our Apprentices or Trainees with every aspect of their Employment and Training.

If you would like further information on Apprenticeships, please contact Sunraysia & Murray Group Training.

School Based Apprenticeships
School Based Apprenticeships give students a real head start with their working life. They are able to commence an Apprenticeship part-time, earn money and gain a vocational education and training qualification whilst pursuing their secondary schooling.

Students are offered a real opportunity to develop a career and receive qualifications that are Nationally accredited and count towards their VCE or VCAL.

School Based Apprenticeships are very flexible. In most instances training is completed on the job. The training has been developed by industry for industry, so the trainee is getting the right skills for the employer and the right skills for their future.

Students can undertake a School Based Apprenticeship in year 10, 11 or 12 and it gives them a head start for when they finish school.

After finishing school, students can pursue tertiary studies or they can continue their Apprenticeship full time. The part time work and study they have already completed potentially takes up to a year off a full time Apprenticeship making them attractive to future employers.
