Position Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Decontamination: Clean, disinfect, and decontaminate reusable medical devices and surgical instruments.
- Inspection and Assembly: Inspect instruments for damage, assemble them into appropriate sets, and prepare them for sterilisation.
- Sterilisation: Operate various sterilisation machines, set controls, and monitor their operation to ensure effective sterilisation.
- Packaging and Storage: Package sterilised items, load and unload materials for processing, and manage sterile stock.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of infection.
- Workplace Safety: Participate in workplace health and safety programs and use equipment safely.
- Record Keeping: Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of sterilisation processes.
- Communication and Teamwork: Maintain clear communication with colleagues and other healthcare personnel, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Technical Skills: Operation of sterilisation equipment, loading and unloading materials, and basic machine maintenance.
- Infection Control: Strong understanding of sterilisation and infection control principles and policies.
Personal Requirements
Applicants must have a mature outlook and be flexible and adaptive to different work environments. Evidence of knowledge of the chosen occupation gained through work experience and/or research is essential.
